Anna Stubbs outdoors in the Lake District with green and brown trees, wearing a pink shirt and a black jacket.

I have had a varied career life starting out as a Medical Secretary and then going on to nursing and finally putting myself through Medical School.  Following becoming a doctor I specialised in Emergency Medicine and then spent some time working Pre Hospitally on helicopters and travelling to Cumbria and Cambridge to take up posts there.  I feel hugely privileged to have been given these opportunities in my life and have seen some amazing things, met some fantastic people and been to some truly beautiful and stunning places.  On the flip side of this when work has been stressful I have found I have turned more and more to art to help me relax and although I undertook this initially with no intention of where this would lead in mind I have been persuaded by others that I should allow others to enjoy the items I create.  Plus I have now run out of wall space at home in which to house all these creations!! I have therefore been cajoled into parting with my paintings.  I initially started with botanical watercolours and a little graphite but as my confidence has grown I have explored further into more in depth graphite works and also have dabbled in oil.  In using other mediums I believe this has helped me develop my artistic skills, although I still do find huge pleasure in undertaking botanicals.  I have also now started to undertake commissions which has been very enjoyable and adds another realm to my art encouraging me to push boundaries.

Since trying to set up this website and arrange the items to sell I have found this to be a huge learning curve of which I shall be blogging as I truly wish there had been a “Go-to Guide” of things not to do, and the order in which to undertake things !! So if you fancy saving yourself some tears and ultimately money go check it out.

During the whole of this journey I have had welcome support and critique from my family and friends, from my work family and my huge rescue dog, Maggie, who has been along the last year of this journey with me.

I hope you like my paintings and artwork.  I also have a Facebook and Instagram account under the name of Anna_Stubbs_Artwork so feel free to go check those out also.  I would love to hear your comments and please feel free to send me a message in the Contact Page.

Happy painting

Anna

A bit about me and my journey
